John Mills' autobiography 'Up in the Clouds Gentlemen please': "If the picture had turned out half as good as the food, the wine, the time and the laughs we had on that location, it would have been a sensation - unfortunately it wasn't." (It was filmed in southern Spain.) Hayley partly blames the pairing of her dad and Lionel Jeffries, who she says behaved like 'schoolboys'.
It's a very pedestrian script about rivals and treasure, plus tomboy Hayley's growing romance with James MacArthur. Both John and Hayley's accents are all over the place, though they're a winning couple.
With Niall MacGinnis, Harry Andrews, David Tomlinson. Photographed (pretty much entirely) on location by Ted Scaife. Various distressed jean jackets are the order of the day.
Aged 18, Hayley had en route to the filming bought herself a house in Southern France for £24,000!
