You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger (2010 Woody Allen & scr)

This is I think the least loved of all Woody Allens on his own fan website, which goes to show they are a bunch of morons.

Josh Brolin cannot finish his book (what's wrong with these fucking authors who take years to finish something?), Naomi Watts wants to open her own gallery, mother Gemma Jones (brilliant) is taking advice from a 'spiritualist' (perhaps in the alcohol sense) Pauline Collins, whilst Freida Pinto moves in opposite...

Meanwhile Anthony Hopkins makes the mistake of cosying up to far-too-young and wholly unsuitable Lucy Punch (also great).

As usual, seems to pack a lot into short (94 minute) running time, and ends up a story about a man who's stolen what he thinks is a dead man's book....

I like the way virtually all the stories end up unresolved...

Lots of supporting Brits include Fenella Woolgar, Philip Glenister, Ewan Bremner. With Johnny Harris, Antonio Banderas, Celia Imrie, Anna Friel.

Shot very fluidly by Vilmos Zsigmond in a way that keeps the action going in long continuous takes.
