So look, we know that the original
Anhedonia was a two and a half hour unfocused collection of random gags and flashbacks - in other words, the original screenplay. Then it was shaped in the editing room by Woody and Ralph Rosenblum, removing much of the superfluous material until the story of him and her emerges. (Ralph did that amazing montage at the end to Diane's 'Feels Like Old Times'.) Cut to - award ceremonies. Allen and Marshall Brickman pick up the best screenplay awards - surely Ralph should have been credited as he helped to structure, shape and 'find' the film? Anyway.
It's wonderful. Bringing the present day characters in to the flashbacks is inspired, as are the break-outs (Marshall Mcluhan etc.)
