His House (2020 Remi Weekes & scr)

An interesting but somehow unsuccessful horror film which ironically would have worked better without the (silly) horror elements. As it's basically a story about the horror of two refugees from Africa and the haunting past they bring with them (and - their efforts to assimilate).

Sope Dirisu and Wunmi Mosaku (Vera, Dancing on the Edge) are good as the beleaguered couple. With Matt Smith as a social worker.

Effectively made on a low budget with key contributions from production designer Jacqueline Abrahams, editor Julia Bloch and cinematographer Jo Willems.

Why isn't it Their House or Our House?
