All the Money in the World (2017 Ridley Scott)

Maybe because we were very familiar with the story, told better in Trust, that this seemed a little dull - it's written by David Scarpa, based on the book by John Pearson, noted biographer ('The Profession of Violence'). It seemed to lack tension, until the very end, and humour.

Best bits are - the priceless antique that isn't, Duris seeing him escape and doing nothing, scene where we think (for a second) Getty's negotiating release, but actually he's buying a painting. Talking of which, we both hoped at the end he'd fall into his own fireplace and burn to death.

Christoper Plummer (replacing the now exonerated Kevin Spacey) was Oscar nominated. With Michelle Williams, Mark Wahlberg, Romain Duris (looking suitably scruffy - a nice change of role for him), Timothy Hutton (Getty's attorney), Charlie Plummer (the captive - no relation) and Andrew Buchan.
