Paul Wheeler wrote the last broadcast Darling Buds (April 1993). With a bit of background Larkin help, Mariette and Charlie buy the brewery, which is odd, really, because no one around there seems to drink that brand, a major issue that goes unresolved. Pop becomes a counsellor to try and thwart the ambitions of David Haig and Mel Martin to turn a location of beauty into a sand quarry, with the aid of some nice gypsies.
Haig has been in loads of things, most memorably Four Weddings.
