Rifkin's Festival (2020 Woody Allen & scr)

Wallace Shawn, a pedantic would-be novelist, attends the San Sebastian Film Festival with his wife Gina Gershon, who's promoting pretentious film director Louis Garrel - the two clearly have a thing. Shawn befriends a glamorous Spanish doctor, Elena Anaya.

A variety of dreams and visions, based on scenes by Bergman, Fellini et al., help him realise his life is lacking in meaning. Thus, great fun for a film buff, particularly last episode involving Death from The Seventh Seal, played by Christoph Waltz.

Has a very distinctive ending in the psychiatrist's office. Unusual too in that it has a film score, albeit one composed by Stephane Wrembel, who supplied the 'Bistro Fada' for Midnight in Paris. Fabulous photography again from Vittoria Storaro, who I am delighted to report has signed on for Woody's next film, supposedly filming in Paris this month.
