Murder in Provence (2022)

Not sure I've seen anything so badly acted in a while. The director, Chloe Thomas, has to shoulder some of the blame. Talking of which, it is slackly directed, and edited. Everything (walks over to put the coffee cup down) takes (turns to face the other person) an age.

Our theories are 1. Everyone's so overwhelmed to be in Roger Allum's presence they forget how to act 2. Roger only agreed to this twaddle because the writer (Shelagh Stephenson) is an old friend.

With Roger are Nancy Carroll, Patricia Hodge, Kela Settle. Samuel Barnett, the gay friend, was fine. We saw him recently in Four Lives and before that as Dirk Gently.

Based on the Verlaque and Bonnet Mysteries by ML Longworth, three 90 minute films for Britbore. Steve Barron directed the third - and best - instalment in which the couple are actually in danger (from a murderous doctor!)
