Five Bedrooms - Season One (2019)

Ainsley (Katie Robertson) proposes at a wedding party that her fellow diners should all link together and buy a house. She already knows her boss, Lachlan (Hugh Sheridan), with whom she's besotted - they have had sex once or twice but he's married and keeps crying. But she doesn't know builder Ben (Stephen Peacocke, who I am reliably informed is a Home and Away alumni, also Whiskey Tango Foxtrot and The Newsreader) nor nervy lawyer Liz (Kat Stewart), and her doctor friend Harry (Roy Joseph). Lachlan doesn't last long at the house and his place is taken by Ainsley's former landlady Heather (Doris Younane), who's sick of her unresponsive husband and sons.

Kumud Merani is the doctor's disapproving mother.

Created by Christine Bartlett, Michael Lucas (co-creator and producer of The Newsreader), Nathan Mayfield, Tracey Robertson and Leigh McGrath, but most episodes are written by Bartlett & Lucas.

Made for Australian TV in 8 x 45 minute episodes.

Bags of heart and humour. Liked line "I couldn't sleep. It was like a five star version of being dead." Loved the way all the housemates started defending each other. Totally misread the ending - I thought Liz's boss was going to buy the house.
