Adaptation of Bernadine Evaristo novel, broadcast on the BBC somewhat arbitrarily as 12 x 30 minute episodes. Good story jumps about in time from seventies aged Lennie James back to earlier life and even before as an adolescent in Antigua - where his relationship with Ariyon Bakare began - it's just that no one knows about it. And that's where the drama lies.
Filmed in Dalston. The Save Ridley Road campaign is to protect the historic market and artists' community from gentrification.
With Sharon D Clarke, Tamara Lawrance, Sharlene Whyte and Tahj Miles (from Death in Paradise) as the grandson.
James has a great way of smiling when he's not smiling, if you see what I mean.
It was good.
