Canticle. The poor chap who's been ruined by Mrs. Pettybon aka Mary Whitehouse, for his 'The Interesting Times' School-boy issue is a thinly disguised reference to the Oz 'schoolkids' trial 1971, defended by John Mortimer.
In addition to injuries catalogued in the previous jotting, Morse is clonked on the head and then drugged with - well, not acid, in fact - Henbane, Mandrake and Jimson weed - 'effects are not dissimilar to LSD'. Of course it's still 1967- Joan has only just left - if it had been but a year later none of this would have seemed right.
