The Good Girl (2002 Miguel Arteta)

Who made Youth in Revolt. Written by Mike White, who plays the Christian security guard, and who also wrote Orange County and lots of TV.

Jennifer Aniston is good as bored Texas cashier housewife - married to stoner John C Reilly - who starts relationship with mentally unbalanced and younger co-worker Jake Gyllenhaal. Despite a light touch to such scenes, and the antics of fellow worker Zooey Deschanel and of Reilly's mate Tim Blake Nelson, it turns out darker than you might think (particularly the ending).

With Deborah Rush (a bit of an indie movie veteran) and John Carroll Lynch.

I like the way Jen has always picked these indie, slightly off-balance films.
