Jessie Buckley seems determined to set a record for being in the most obscure and weird films she can. Think of Men, The Lost Daughter, I'm Thinking of Ending Things, Beast... This one is at least quite funny, in a parallel universe (which looks like the eighties) where there's a test that can scientifically show whether you're love compatible - it involves having a fingernail pulled out. I would have liked it that after the machine malfunctions, we realise that none of the results are reliable - I suppose that is implied. You can see it's allegorical, but what the point it's making is...?
She is of course reliably good, as is Riz Ahmed. With Jeremy Allen White, Luke Wilson, Christian Meer, Amanda Arcuri. Music (simple, piano, good) Christopher Stracey, DP Marcell Rev, editor Yorgos Zafeiris. These Greeks are nuts.
