Desperately downbeat 4-part Channel 4 drama written by Daniel Fajemisin-Duncan (which sounds just like one of the names we'd make up in this house) and Marlon Smith, who could have used a shot of humour.
Of the four vaguely connected episodes, the standout cast members are the astonishing Olivia Colman (as a tough, herself domestically abused mother of two brutish sons) and Lennie Jones, who's brilliant as a junkie trying to get it together for his daughter's sake.
The other two leads are Katie Leung (Harry Potter's Cho Chang) and Katharina Schüttler, and Jaime Winston also features.
Well, I must go and cut my throat now.
