Brothers in Law (1956, released 57 Roy Boulting)

Cast tells all:

Ian Carmichael (recently qualified barrister), Miles Malleson (senior barrister who takes him on), Eric Barker (clerk) (all pictured below):

Richard Attenborough (slightly more experienced barrister), Jill Adams (wandering love interest):

John Le Mesurier (irascible judge), Terry-Thomas (criminal), Leslie Phillips (barristers' outfitter), Nicholas Parsons (car obsessed lodger), Raymond Huntley (know-it all barrister), Irene Handl (perhaps the best cameo, hilarious as an unforthcoming witness).

Typical line up on the technical side: Max Greene on camera, Anthony Harvey editing, Benjamin Frankel music.

Enjoyable. A surprise to see John Schlesinger in a bit part.

Carmichael lived to the ripe old age of 90. It's unfortunate his TV Wooster (against Dennis Price's Jeeves) is not available, though you can buy his Lord Peter Whimsy series from the 1970s.
