Is this becoming a bit silly? (Dad going to see Lenny Bruce, getting arrested, letting loads of beatniks into the apartment, the outrageous behaviour at the in-laws' house, Midge and Joel getting remarried in Vegas.)
Liked stuff with Joel's new club with Chinese gambling den underneath and Mei (Stephanie Hsu), and developments with Shy's Vegas roadshow (Leroy McClain). Sterling K Brown - Randall from This Is Us - was only his manager, Reggie!
You need more of this after Ace In the Hole. Astonished to see what I believe is a Soy Cuba homage in episode five, the one with the curved Fontainbleu (Me: "That's funny, I'm sure the building curved outward at the beginning". Q: "That was the other side.") Great stuff with Susie's kidnappers securing a Broadway theatre for her - "We work in theatre a lot actually". "You guys kill me!" "One day." Very funny stuff.
"She's John Huston in underwire."
Great stuff (again) with Lenny Bruce.
"You were trying to drink your own weight in gin."
"I don't weigh that much."
Ends with Jane Lynch play flop, Midge attempting to buy back apartment, being kicked off Shy's tour (she came a bit too close to the truth).
In the playouts, we liked Fountains of Wayne 'Sink to the Bottom with You'.
Stuff.
