I Came By (2022 Babak Anvari & co-scr)

A Netflix film which to some extent evokes Psycho in its focus on a single house and the unfortunate people who end up dead there. Especially the dodgy-accented George Mackay, who is despatched early on, followed by his mother Kelly Macdonald later (killing her is a tricky move - it only leaves us with one person to care about - Percell Ascott... same as Psycho, I suppose). Hugh Bonneville is quite good as the killer. But overall it's a bit silly and doesn't quite work, and there are missed opportunities all over the place (daring escape by Macdonald, for example).

Also, why have that big electronic gate if you can just hop over the wall anyway?
