We are excited as both McDonaghs have new films out - John's is The Forgiven, long delayed by Covid, and Martin's is The Banshees of Inisherin (the title of his only unpublished and unproduced play).
Brendan Gleeson owns this film as the irreverent and unorthodox but good-hearted Garda, who with imported FBI cop gets involved in big coke smuggling operation, being handled by Mark Strong, Liam Cunningham and David Wilmot.
It's very funny and clever; to call it 'a superior cop film' is woefully incomplete as it's a western and a black Irish comedy also. Also beautifully plotted e.g. the derringer, Gleeson's swimming stories.
