Tony Parsons' novel adapted by Kevin Hood.
Take this:
Add a touch of this:
Ioan Gruffudd, I am reliably informed by my Q, is unfortunately rather like the character he portrays, only not so good as a father. And, I have to say, he is out-acted by the boy, Dominic Howell.
Can't say I have too much sympathy with the mother's character. Surely she should have thrown out the cheating husband and stayed with her child rather than buggering off to Japan? She is Natasha Little, and also in cast are Pauline Collins, Jack Shepherd, Ian McShane, Elizabeth Mitchell.
It was not bad.
