Barry Lyndon (1975 Stanley Kubrick)

Also reviewed here at some length, but I completely failed to catch the dry humour that Kubrick has written from William Makepeace Thackery's no doubt already funny novel, voiced sardonically by Michael Hordern.

Everyone always forgets that Kubrick was a funny guy.

Ryan O'Neal (really very good), Marisa Berenson, Patrick Magee, Hardy Kruger, Steven Berkoff, Gay Hamilton, Marie Kean (Barry's mother), Murray Melvin, Frank Middlemass, André Morell, Leonard Rossiter, Philip Stone, Arthur O'Sullivan (highwayman), Leon Vitali (Lord Bullingdon).

Tony Lawson edited it, apparently, for two years.

Final dual scene is amazing. Film is hypnotic.
