The Big Sleep (1946 Howard Hawks)

Absolutely brilliant script - by novelist William Faulkner, and frequent Hawks collaborators Leigh Bracket and Jules Furthman - performed by a brilliant cast and brilliantly scored by Max Steiner.

Bogie's adventures in bookstores are most amusing. People keep calling him "soldier", which I find interesting.
