Loved (1997 Erin Dignam & scr)

William Hurt cross-examines an annoying girl (Robin Wright Penn, one of an annoying family) about her obsession with violent controlling ex. When the ex does finally open his mouth, we realise why she 'stepped' out of the window.

Indulgent film eats itself. It's so boring. How did it get funded?  Luckily Dignam - who may have been watching too much Bergman - wasn't allowed to do much other damage.

At 1:14 a bird flies into the shot and it's the most exciting thing that happens.

Sean Penn is in it a bit and Richard Schiff is familiar - perhaps from Any Human Heart.
