Simon Pegg and Nick Frost also wrote the funny script, which affectionately sends up sci-fi fans and films (references to Close Encounters, cameo of Sigourney Weaver). Seth Rogan is the voice of the alien, which has beautifully animated eyes. With Kristen Wiig, Jane Lynch, Jesse Plemons, Jason Bateman, Bill Hader, Joe Lo Truglio, Jeffrey Tambour. Also has quite a few welcome jokes at the expense of religion.
Photographed by Lawrence Sher in Panavision, and although it's edited by Chris Dickens it doesn't have the same panache as an Edgar Wright film.
