Typically zippy and entertaining Warner Bros. film typical of its period with Cagney on bouncy, charismatic form. He gets involved in illegal card games, goes on the run after burglary goes wrong, ends up becoming a Hollywood star. Mae Clarke is his new girl. Highlights are party scene involving monkeys, which are clearly being hurled from off-screen into bowls of cream, etc., garlic kissing, Cagney throwing (literally) Lindsay out of his apartment.
