Well - Dana Andrews' character seems reprehensible - he's going to marry Alice Faye just for her money, then slink off with slinky Linda Darnell, who's restless and desperate and weary. The problem is she's a magnet for men, including employer 'Pop' Percy Kilbride, corrupt ex-cop Charles Bickford (a truly nasty piece of work) and slot machine salesman Bruce Cabot. Anne Revere is the sister and Jimmy Conlin appears unbilled.
It's not the usual noir, but evocative and hard-nosed, one to watch. Lit by Joseph LaShelle, score by David Raksin. Written by Harry Kleiner from Marty Holland's novel.
