Fog Over Frisco (1934 William Dieterle)

All zips along in typical Warners thirties style, as Bette Davis plays the criminal step-sister of Margaret Lindsay (who's the 'good girl'), destroying reputations all about her. But then two unexpected things happen halfway through. One, Bette is murdered (off screen) and dumped in the boot of her car (which is a bit off, considering she's top billed). Two, we go out on location on those hilly (and foggy) streets of San Francisco in an exciting chase by car, foot and speedboat, almost too fast for Tony Gaudio to film it. Good twists and wrap up. 68 minutes.

With Donald Woods, Lyle Talbot, Hugh Herbert, Douglass Dumbrille, William Demerest, Alan Hale (The Adventures of Robin Hood).
