Mystic Pizza (1988 Donald Petrie)

Story from Amy Holden Jones, who visited the real Mystic Pizza one summer and was inspired to write the story; written by her and Perry & Randy Howze and Alfred Uhry, concerns pizzeria run by Conchata Ferrell and waitressed by sisters Annabeth Gish and Julia Roberts, and Lili Taylor. Fairly predictably Gish falls for her married babysitter employer William Moses, whilst less so, college boy Adam Storke actually does seem interested in Roberts. In a twist, Lili's hunk Vincent D'Onofrio dumps her because she won't marry him. Matt Damon also pops up. So good class / Portuguese / fishing environment, filmed in Connecticut. The architect's house is 4 Water's Edge Road, Rhode Island, built 1902, valued at $5.5m.

When Taylor does get married, there's a moment where she's seated in between some older women, and she seems to be thinking 'Am I going to end up as fat as all these?' Has a slightly duff last line.

Handsomely filmed by Tim Suhrstedt (particularly that scene with a single candle). Here, he's caught Annabeth in a lovely light.

Amusingly, there's a credit for 'Word processor'.
