Really bizarre story of murders linked by one thing - stopped clocks and watches. (Though the sub-story, a young girl being led into sex films, is totally credible.) Morse is a mess - his step-mother has foisted herself on him and at one point he's so drunk he steps into the path of a taxi. Mini-cabs are at the heart of the story after one of the drivers has been murdered.
We learn that Bright is a decent artist and accompany Strange to a Masons' ball with Joan for company. And, in conclusion, Thursday observes that Morse has changed - he's no longer trying to find the best, but now 'sees things as they are'. (Though he's very good with the boy, see below.)
