Eve Myles and Babou Ceesay are back as the detectives on the trail of a murderer. Once again Herminoe Corfield is involved, but she's not calling the shots for a change. Unpleasant violence and black humour mix, in a veritable sea of suspicious suspects. The effect of Killing Eve continues to ricochet - interesting style, use of old music choices, black humour. This has quite a noticeable design style too, particularly around Corfield's character, but also in the killer pigeon masks (!)
Myles is as grumpy and Ceesay as polite as before; though he's having marital difficulties, which allows him to flex his acting skills. But who is Corfield's murderous protector / avenger? Journalist Colin Morgan, Angus Imrie the brother of her childhood friend, Nico Millalegro (The Beast Must Die, Peterloo, My Mad Fat Diary), Ray Fearon? With Babirye Bukilwa (detective), Tamzin Outhwaite, Vicki Pepperdine.
The music is inspirationally bonkers: Jon Opstad. As usual with this sort of thing there are multiple people behind camera. Six x 45m.
With the killer still at large, and Corfield in prison, it points to a third series, but none has so far been commissioned by Showtime / Alibi. Some of Corfield's fashions are hideous. Most macabre and funny scene involves her and a severed finger.
