In 'Soir Bleu', an update of Pagliacchi, circus clown Alan Arkin has affair with ringmaster Dan Hedaya's wife Rosanna de Soto, ends up shooting him. Painting: Hopper.
In the best, 'Language of the Heart', a baker falls for the glamorous proprietor of a saucy lingerie shop newly opened opposite. Peter directs with his usual consummate, simple skill. Bizarrely when I went to check this in Maltin (it doesn't appear), my eye fell upon the documentary Picture This, a film about Bogdanovich's shooting of Texasville, which I'd never even heard of!
