The Edge of Seventeen (2016 Kelly Fremon Craig & scr)

Hailee Steinfeld (True Grit) falls out with her only friend Haley Lu Richardson (plenty of TV work but don't think we've seen her before - her Columbus seems interesting) over relationship with brother Blake Jenner.

It's not really a comedy, more about how difficult sometimes it is to connect to people, and stay connected. The best lines are written for Woody Harrelson, one of which goes something like this:

"I'm not very good at this sort of thing. But I think we both know what needs to be said. And I'm just gonna go ahead and say it. Get out of the car."

Interesting production - funding from Tang Media (now Global Road Entertainment), Chinese Huayi Brothers, and produced by Gracie Films as Kelly had sent it as a spec script to James L Brooks - proving that these things can happen.

Also, you've gotta love 'The Dickhead Song' performed by Miles Betterman and written by Timothy Donovan.
