Bombshell (2019 Jay Roach)

Roach made Trumbo, and before that silliness like Austin Powers and Meet the Fockers.

An hour in, I was thinking this is an issue led film, not one that's character driven - but isn't All the President's Men the same - we don't care what Woodward and Bernstein had for dinner, just that they uncovered the Watergate affair?

Anyway, it's good, with perhaps Margot Robbie the standout of the three female leads, Nicole Kidman and Charlize Theron being the other two, across from a (hopefully prosthetic) John Lithgow as the creep at Fox News (would have been funny if this has been a 20th Century Fox picture).

Full of recognisable actors that we couldn't place, including Alice Eve, Liv Hewson, Ashley Greene, Jennifer Morrison, Ben Lawson, Holland Taylor, Mark Duplass, an unrecognisable Allison Janney, Rob Delaney, Richard Kind and Malcolm MacDowell.

So yes, we enjoyed it, if that's the right word. Photographed in his familiar verité style by Barry Aykroyd, edited by Jon Poll, music by Theodore Shapiro.
