'A Dog of Flanders' is a European children's story very popular in parts of Asia, especially Japan, though it's unlikely to bear much resemblance to this, in which our lead character Lee Sung-jae, finds dogs irritating to the point of wanting to kill them. His pregnant wife Kim Ho-Jung makes the mistake of buying a little dog herself, which the husband loses pretty much straight away - people who have done this themselves will be familiar with the shit they find themselves in with their other halves in doing so. Into the story weaves an aimless young woman Bae Doona, her friend Go Soo-Hee, and an apartment block caretaker Byun Hee-Bong.
Very successful and humorous black comedy from Parasite director, his debut.
