Agatha's 1953 Marple novel was adapted by Kevin Elyot for Julia Mackenzie, her first appearance as Marple, and features bizarre murders in a dysfunctional family. They are: head of household Ken Cranham, his young wife Anna Madeley (All Creatures, In Bruges, Patrick Melrose, Lewis), elder son Ben Miles and wife Liz White, younger son Rupert Graves and his wife Lucy Cohu, and Hattie Morahan. Helen Baxendale is looking after things, with Ken Campbell and Wendy Richard below stairs and Rose Heiney as the unfortunate maid. Matthew Macfadyen and Ralph Little investigate.
