America's Sweethearts (2001 Joe Roth)

Most enjoyable comedy, written by Billy Crystal (who also produced) and Peter Tolan, is perhaps empty-headed, but fun. Catherine Zeta-Jones and John Cusack are the once famous star couple who have lost popularity since she's left him for Hank Azaria. For the sake of a new film's release, PR man Crystal and Zeta-Jones's sister / assistant Julia Roberts need the public to think they're together for the press junket.

With Stanley Tucci, great as a cold-hearted exec, Christopher Walken, Alan Arkin, Seth Green, Rainn Wilson.

Handsomely photographed by Phedon Papamichael, nicely orchestrated music by James Newton Howard; and we were most surprised and delighted to see Stephen A Rotter as editor.

The film parodies are fun and Crystal and Roberts are both endearing.

And Zeta-Jones fun as ultra-pampered and shallow film star. "Did we brush my teeth?"
