A seminal horror film, laced with wit and stylishly directed. Its opening and closing were both echoed in Halloween - the idea that the killer is inside the building was clever, without necessarily being a first. The murder intercut with carol singing is striking. Roy Moore's screenplay tricks you right up to the ending.
