New Bristol University entrant James McAvoy yearns to be on University Challenge team, particularly when he meets fellow contestant Alice Eve (under the leadership of Benedict Cumberbatch, and with Elaine Tan). But he's also made a connection with radical Rebecca Hall. Old mates back in Essex are Dominic Cooper and James Cordon (both History Boys alumni). Mum is Catherine Tate, with John Henshaw - The Cops - as her boyfriend. Mark Gatiss is a fabulous Bamber Gascoigne, Guy Henry the lecturer, Charles Dance and Lindsay Duncan as Eve's parents.
Good cast, entertaining script / story David Nicholls.
