Heaven Can Wait (1943 Ernst Lubitsch)

Fabulously well written by Samuel Raphaelson, from a play by Leslie Bush-Fekete - you can't make this stuff up. Don Ameche, Gene Tierney, Charles Coburn all wonderful, as is supporting cast (Spring Byington, Eugene Pallette, Marjorie Main (marvellous scene at breakfast between these two - camera simply swings from one to the other), Laird Cregar). Edward Cronjager (Desert Fury, I Wake Up Screaming) on Technicolor duty, Alfred Newman score.

Continuously very funny, interrupted only by egg and chips.
