Friends and Crocodiles (2005 Stephen Poliakoff & scr)

I picked - well, suggested - today's choices as I felt I'd been somewhat overvoted on Saturday, though I could not get agreement to watch The Adventures of Robin Hood. A Poliakoff boxed set was first up.

One of the shorter ones, Friends and Crocodiles stars Damian Lewis, Jodhi May, Robert Lindsay, Eddie Marsan and Patrick Malahide.

It's another most interesting tale from Poliakoff, looking at the relationship between a rich and prescient property tycoon and his secretary and how their situations change from the 80s to the 90s. Considering how generous he is to his friends, they are all most unfriendly to him in later years. Largely shot at Broughton Castle, Banbury.

Whilst not as immediately engaging as some of his other work, film has a strong character and leaves an impression.

Is a long shot down a corridor a trademark of Poliakoff's?

Same collaboraters as Gideon's Daughter - Barry Akroyd on camera, Clare Douglas editing and Adrian Johnston score.
