Frances Ha (2012 Noah Baumbach & co-scr)

Noah, born 1969, is older than I thought. This is his second collaboration with Greta Gerwig, who co-wrote and is great. If Noah is a sort of Woody Allen (which we think he aspires to be) this is his Manhattan, rather uglily shot in black and white by Sam Levy (who also did While We're Young).

Not lots of laughs out loud but amusing and interesting charting of character's various work, love and friendship failures in and around New York. (Also Paris and Sacramento.) Subtle, too (she claims she reads way more than her friend but we don't see her reading once.)

With Mickey Sumner as her BF, Michael Esper, Adam Driver.

Has various clips of Truffaut music running throughout.
