Firefly Lane (2021 Maggie Friedman & co-scr)

Kristin Hannah novel given 7 1/2 hour treatment on Netflix. Constantly jumping around in time as story of two childhood friends - played as adults by Katherine Heigl and Sarah Chalke (originally in Roseanne) - told over decades. A long way from This Is Us however. Then, rather than winding up the story, it leaves on hangers - very irritating, commercial rather than artistic. Turns out it isn't even the whole novel - who directed it - Peter Jackson?

Ah, sad reviewer - is this not the outcome when art is forced to walk hand in hand with money?

With Ben Lawson, Ali Skovbye and Roan Curtis (young Tully and Kate, with those ridiculous glasses), Yael Yurman (horrible daughter), Beau Garrett (mother).
