Marple: Murder Is Easy (2009 Hettie Macdonald)

... as long as it doesn't look like murder. So says Sylvia Sims, in far too big close up, to Marple on a train, and within minutes she's dead. The sleuth teams up with ex-detective Benedict Cumberbatch to weed out the murderer, who as usual uses a number of poisons to deadly effect.

Sarcastic comments about the direction have been made before, so let's report the cast: Benedict Cumberbatch, Steve Pemberton, Shirley Henderson, Lyndsey Marshal, James Lance, Tim Brooke-Taylor, Camilla Arfwedson, Hugo Speer, Anna Chancellor, David Haig, Margo Stilley, Jemma Redgrave, Russell Tovey.

Marple recognises a shop-bought cake anywhere, and the game is up. In fact it's a case of tea and cake and murder, once again.
