Foyle's War: Eagle Day (2002 Jeremy Silbertson)

The average life expectancy of a Spitfire pilot in the Battle of Britain - June to October 1940 - was four weeks, so goes the widely repeated statistic, which is quite remarkable. I mention this as Foyle's son (Julian Ovenden) has completed training as a pilot, but rather than engaging in combat, is tasked to help with critical radar trials, only to discover a nest of cover-up, which links - tangentially - to the murder of a truck driver in Hastings. Damned clever stuff!

With both Roger Allam and Anton Lesser in the cast, it's a bit like an Endeavour try-out. This was the last of the first 2002 season.

I like that Milner (Anthony Howell) is the one to figure out the art plot... with the help of Sam's visiting father Stephen Moore.
