It appears this film is set in Texas (Fort Worth) and there is no Baja, Oklahoma, so it's funny that as a Brit I find this title (the song co-written by Willie Nelson) so confusing. But the plot isn't. A bar girl Lesley Ann Warren wants to make it as a country writer-singer, and her newly returned ex Peter Coyote tries to help. With support from friend Swoosie Kurtz, Billy Vera, Anthony Zerbe, William Forsythe, Julia Roberts, Bruce Abbott.
I gather it was made for HBO. We saw a from-video copy in 4x3 (thanks to dvdlady.com). It was photographed by Michael Ballhaus (so it's no surprise that Florian is there as first assistant) and was one of the earliest films Emma Hickox worked on in the editing department.
