Forty Guns (1957 Sam Fuller & scr, prod)

A hired gun (Barry Sullivan) and his two brothers come into town, and his path crosses the local boss Barbara Stanwyck and her forty men. A lot happens in an hour and a quarter, most of the action emanating from her slightly psychotic brother John Ericson. Lots of interesting oners, in tracking shots, an extreme close up like Leone would do - but not quite as good as other Fullers.

With Dean Jagger, Gene Barry (brother who finds romance with local gunsmith girl - a refreshing take on things), Robert Dix, Hank Worden, Sandra Wirth.

Unusually for a western, features extensive scenes of bathing! Also singing.

Photographed by Joseph Biroc in CinemaScope, music by Harry Sukman.
