Lost in Yonkers (1993 Martha Coolidge)

Written by Neil Simon (from his play), a powerful, semi-autobiographical story. Mercedes Ruehl should have won an Oscar for her performance, Irene Worth great too as cold grand-mother. Richard Dreyfuss makes impression as tough guy (played by Kevin Spacey on stage). The kids are Brad Stoll and Mike Damus, David Strathairn also brilliant as cinema usher.

Depression New York beautifully recreated by David Chapman and Mark Haack, costumes Shelly Komarov, shot by Johnny Jensen. Music by Elmer Bernstein.

'Moxie' in action
