Well reviewed here. Yes Shelly Long is under-appreciated. Shyer confirms in the intro that the story (he and Nancy Meyers) is loosely based on Peter Bogdanovich / Polly Platt / Cybill Shepherd's relationship - certainly has similarities. Meyers and Shyer were married, in Rome, in 1980, divorced in 1999, but remain friends. Here they are back then:
"Leave the child alone" is a telling line. Love the end, where mom graciously allows the kid to sit in the front seat of dad's new (old) Golf.
That useful Michael Grillo feller's present again, as First AD.
