Dalgliesh (2021)

Three of PD James' novels adapted into 3 two-part episodes for Channel Five with different directors and DPs. Bertie Carvel is rather good as the polite, sharp-eyed, Jag-driving detective.

'Shroud for a Nightingale' (1971). Murder at Nurse's Home. Writer Helen Edmundson (The Suspicions of Mr Whicher, An Inspector Calls). Jeremy Irvine, Richard Dillane, Fenella Woolgar, Siobhan Cullen.

'The Black Tower' (1975). Murky goings on at monastery / home for disabled. Location looked like evil boys' home in Endeavour. Writer Stephen Greenhorn (Wide Sargasso Sea, Sunshine on Leith). Steven Mackintosh, Jonjo O'Neill, Mirren Mack, Carlyss Peer.

'A Taste for Death' (1986). Double murder in church and a young boy with a 50p. Writer Helen Edmundson. Jeremy Irvine, Carlyss Peer, Fra Fee, Lily Sacofsky, James Cartwright, Laura Elphinstone, Jane Lapotaire, Patrick Regis.

Like the drip feed writing. Dalgliesh is a poet. He lost his wife, Turns our he lost his wife and baby.

It was filmed in Northern Ireland - Belfast and Sixmilewater Park in Ballyclare.

Good design breaks, like a 70s paperback cover

Curious and distinctive picture / frame in background
