The further adventures of Billy Crudup, Jen An and Reese Witherspoon, in the bland and cut-throat world of morning (and evening) television. Billy is trying to negotiate with a billionaire, John Hamm, to buy the network, which is eating money, though we find out just in the nick of time that he's totally dodgy.
In episode three I began to wonder why The Morning Show isn't as good as The Newsroom. Well the simple answer is that TMS isn't written by Aaron Sorkin. But more, that Sorkin makes us care about all the characters, and though he could embrace and relish getting into serious political waters, the people came first. I don't really care much about anyone in TMS, and that's the difference (the same problem infects the vastly overrated Succession, only more so).
Flashback to 2020-1 - Covid, George Floyd, 6 January - not at all welcome, thank you! But important plotting,as Reece's brother has been one of the White Horse stormers, and she most unwisely covers it up.
