Delightful adaptation of Dickens novel by the director; James Hayter and Nigel Patrick perfectly cast as the bumbling yet principled Pickwick and the wily rogue Jingle, who perpetually seems to get away with everything.
Large good cast comprises James Donald (good as Winkle), Joyce Grenfell, Hermione Gingold, Hermione Baddeley, Donald Wolfit, Harry Fowler (his best performance as the resourceful manservant Weller), Kathleen Harrison, Alexander Gauge, William Hartnell, June Thorburn (the lovely Arabella, tragically killed in a plane crash in 1967).
Photographed by Wilkie Cooper and edited by Anne Coates, her first as lead editor, who found Langley made 'lots of mistakes' and thus found the job somewhat challenging. An independent Langley-Minter production.
